MIME Types
Brief overview of MIME Types and Costom MIME Types
MIME Types allow you to set certain programs to be used for specific file name extensions.
For example, all files that end in .ram would be set to use Real Player on the user's PC. Most users do not need to use this feature as the default types are very standardized.
Also, note that you cannot use this feature if you have Frontpage Extensions installed. You would need to use Frontpage itself to perform this function.
MIME is currently defined in RFCs 2045 , 2046 , 2047 , 2048 , and 2049 and registered values for MIME types are available in IANA | MIME Media Types . The HTTP specification defines a superset of MIME which is used to describe the media types used on the web.
